NU sweeps in last tune up before Stanford

Wildcats take down Truman State and Illinois State in straight sets

Northwestern will face Stanford in the NCAA Tournament first round on Friday

The Northwestern volleyball team swept Truman State and Illinois State in straight sets on Saturday in its final tune-up before the NCAA Tournament.

The Wildcats (27-3) will face Stanford (26-4) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday in Palo Alto, California.

Northwestern is making its 17th NCAA Tournament appearance and its first since 2019.

The Wildcats are led by senior outside hitter Temi Thomas-Ailara, who is averaging 4.23 kills per set.

Stanford is the No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament and is making its 40th appearance in the tournament.

The Cardinal are led by senior outside hitter Kathryn Plummer, who is averaging 4.56 kills per set.

The match between Northwestern and Stanford will be a rematch of the 2019 NCAA Tournament first round, which Stanford won in straight sets.
