The ex-England international, who won the Premier League title with Arsenal in 1998, is a popular figure in the world of football and his signing is sure to generate a lot of interest in the new series of the reality TV show.
Campbell, who also played for West Brom, Nottingham Forest and Leicester City, has been a pundit for Sky Sports since retiring from playing in 2006.
He will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of former footballer John Barnes, who won the 11th series of Big Brother in 2011.
Big Brother 22 will be hosted by Julie Chen Moonves and will feature a cast of 16 houseguests.
